Songwriting Habits

It's Christmas Eve, all jobs are done and I've got a new musical idea in my head based on some words I've been working on. And my mission is ... get this idea down before I forget it!

So off I go to the computer, my husband is there. "Five more minutes" he says. (I'm still singing the tune in my head, desperate not to forget the idea). Then I hear "Mum oh Mum. Can I have a glass of milk?"  My daughter then goes through four different versions of how she could spell the word milk....I'm still humming the tune, out loud now.

Meanwhile my husband has vacated the seat at the computer and I'm finally into Logic Pro, headphones and mic all hooked up, and of course the phone rings.  It's my sister!. So my husband, in his efforts to support my songwriting endeavours, hands the phone to the kids so they can speak to my sister ON SPEAKERPHONE! Of course I'm still trying to hum the tune in my head and after ushering the kids into another room and a lot of frustration I finally get the tune recorded plus harmonies..Im impressed..I can go back to decorating the Christmas table, of course after I talk to my sister.

I hope tomorrow i still like the idea.

Maybe i should have just went outside in the 38 degree heat and recorded it on my phone. It would have been  a lot quicker.
